Jobhunting in Finland

Jobhunting in Finland

Jobhunting requires time and energy. It is not just reading the job ads but also self-assessment and analysis of your skills and in general the job market. As a result of this self-assessment and job analysis you will have an increased awareness of your learned skills and personal qualities (i.e. what you have to offer) as well as what kind of skills and qualities jobs and employers require from applicants. Because you are a foreigner it is important to increase your knowledge of Finnish society as well.

-> Be an active, even proactive job-seeker

-> Start to learn or keep up with learning Finnish. Certain aspects of every day life are still rather monolingual; one of them is working life.

-> Set up both short and long term goals what it comes down to find the best possible job for you. Hopefully this way the biggest disappointments can be avoided.

-> And remember: it can take time to find a job, especially abroad!
